Pigeon Humor (2024)

In this series of paintings, I view Boston through the eyes of pigeons, visiting their perches and bringing myself closer to the ground. I reverse our usual roles to bring their experinces to the foreground against the backdrop of parallel human experiences. When we see pigeons in the city, too often we think they are unsightly or in our way. In reality, we were the ones who brought them from faraway places into our cities, and what they share in common with us is why they thrive so well alongside us. If we choose to view our cities from a different perspective—literally and figuratively—we can notice the fun and humor in how they parody our daily activities, from enjoying Sunday brunch at the cafe on the corner, to taking a stroll downtown with their partner, to waiting in a row at a transit stop before taking off, and so much more.
